Ian Fletcher

The author of well over twenty books, mainly about Wellington and his army. Ian leads all the tours to the Peninsula and Waterloo. He will also be present on the tours to the Crimea and co-hosts the Redcoats tour. Click here for a full biography. 

 

 

Patrick Mercer

Patrick leads our tour to the Crimea, subject to availability, and to Italy for the D-Day Dodgers tour. Patrick, MP for Newark, retired from the army with the rank of Colonel of the Sherwood Foresters. He is the author of Give Them a Volley and Charge! and Inkerman 1854.

 

 

 

James Falkner

There aren’t too many who know the Marlburian battlefields as well as James, the author of Great and Glorious Days, The Battle of Blenheim, and Marlborough’s Wars and Marlborough's Sieges, to name a few. James leads our tours to Oudenarde and Culloden and co-hosts the Redcoats tour.

 

Julian Spilsbury

Julian will be leading our tour to Russia, along with the WW2 tours to Berlin and the Limousin. An ex-regular soldier, Julian is the author of several books including major works on both the Crimean War and the Indian Mutiny. A TV scriptwriter, He also writes many of the military obituaries that appear in the Daily Telegraph.

 

Natalia Ishchenko

Natalia  is co-author, along with Ian Fletcher, of the acclaimed The Crimean War : A Clash of Empires. Natalia is assistant professor at the Vernardsky University in the Crimea and is the author of Krimskaia Voina 1853-56. She is a doctor of English literature and adds much Russian insight on our Crimean War tour.

 

John Strecker

John is not only our invaluable tour manager on the  tours to Waterloo and the Peninsula, but is also the author of several articles on the King's German Legion.
