WHAT’S
NOT INCLUDED
Naturally,
we don’t pay for items of a personal nature, such as bar or minibar
bills, telephone calls, souvenirs, etc. Nor do we pay for lunches,
unless the tour is a Full Board one. Otherwise, lunches can be anything
from a glass of wine or beer and a sandwich to a sit-down meal. Much of
this is dependent on time and location.
WHAT
HAPPENS AFTER I’VE BOOKED?
Once
a booking is made, a confirmation invoice is sent to you, containing
details of the tour you have booked, the amount of the balance to be
paid and date on which the amount will be due. After the balance is
paid, joining instructions are despatched, usually two to three weeks
prior to departure. These joining details include departure place and
time, flight or train timings, all hotel telephone numbers, and
practical advice on what to wear and what to bring, etc.
WHAT’S
INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
Details
of what is included in the price of each of the advertised tours can be
found in the pricing box on each page, but, basically, it includes all
accommodation as advertised, coach and transport, return airfare, all
evening meals, all buffet breakfasts, and the
services of a guide and a tour manager.
WHAT
ABOUT INSURANCE?
It
is a condition when booking a tour with IFBT that travellers are covered
by an adequate and valid insurance policy. Anyone who has booked with
IFBT but who fails to produce evidence of an adequate and valid policy
may be refused travel.
WHO
TRAVELS?
There
is no typical battlefield tourist. Indeed, our guests are of all ages
and from different backgrounds. Neither are IFBT tours all male affairs.
In fact, at least one quarter to a third of all guests on our tours are
usually female.
WHAT
WE DO
We
make all hotel and flight reservations on your behalf. We use only
scheduled flights on our tours. We confirm your booking, issue detailed
joining instructions, issue tickets prior to departure, meet you at the
airport upon arrival and see to it that everything is done to ensure
maximum enjoyment.
HOW
LONG ARE THE DAYS?
Each
day of an IFBT tour is designed with the guest’s comfort in mind (they
are holidays, after all), whilst building in the maximum of interest.
After breakfast we are usually on the road by 0900 breaking for lunch at
around 13.00, depending on our programme, and are finished by about
17.00, again depending on our programme. Guests are free at the hotel
until around 19.30 when we meet up for a drink, followed by dinner,
after which guests are at leisure.
WILL
THE ‘NON-BATTLEFIELDTOURIST’
ENJOY THE TOURS?
Yes.
The ‘disinterested’ partner will find much to enjoy on IFBT tours,
for we never forget that they are holidays, not staff college rides.
They will also discover much to enjoy by visiting areas and places not
usually frequented by the general tourist. And nobody can fail to be
impressed by the fantastic accommodation used on IFBT tours, such as the
paradores and pousadas of Portugal and Spain, which include castles and
palaces.
CAN
I BOOK MY OWN FLIGHTS?
Yes,
guests are free to book their own flights. Guests coming from overseas,
such as the USA and Australia, often make their own arrangements and
have flown direct to the point of our arrival in order to meet us.
Anybody wishing to book their own flight is free to do so provided they
are ready to meet us upon our arrival at the respective airport. Guests
wishing to make their arrangements in this way should inform us at the
time of booking in order that their invoice reflects a lower price.
HOW
LARGE ARE THE GROUPS?
Naturally,
the size of each group varies according to just how many bookings are
received. The popular tours, can go as high as 30. Sometimes the group
can be as low as 3, depending upon the nature of the tour. On average,
the size of the groups is between 15 and 25.
WILL
I NEED TO TAKE MUCH MONEY?
Not
really. All IFBT tours are half-board, and include evening meals or, as
in the case in the Crimea, lunches. Guests only need money for light
lunches and for any personal expenses at the hotel, such as telephone or
bar bills.
