Connoisseurs Waterloo

This tour is designed for those who enjoy seeing their battlefields in even more comfort than usual. The itinerary is much the same us our usual Waterloo tours, except for the Waterloo Walk which is, of course, largely a walking circuit. The difference comes in the shape of enhanced travel, dining and accommodation arrangements, Our hotel is situated on the battlefield of Quatre Bras. Today, this area of the battlefield is a golf course, but the buildings themselves date from 1815, giving them a real sense of atmosphere. Our dinners are taken in three different restaurants; the Le Pierpont, the Aux Trois Canards and the Bivouac de l'Empereur, these last two also being sited on the battlefield of Waterloo. Travel is via Eurostar in First Class seats complete with on board meal with champagne. The trip is limited to six people, so if you want that extra something on your tour, give this one a go.

Day 1. Depart London St Pancras International for Brussels via Eurostar in First Class seats with on board lunch with champagne. Drive to Le Bon Villers and check-in at the Le Pierpont Hotel. Dinner at Le Pierpont restaurant. Overnight stay.
Day 2. Short drive to Quatre Bras. The British Memorial, Gemioncourt Farm, the crossroads and the site of the Bois de Bossu. We also follow the retreat and the fights at Thy and Genappe involving the British cavalry. Dinner at the Aux Trois Canards, Smohain. Return to hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 3. Breakfast. Drive to Waterloo for a full day on the battlefield: the French staging positions, Hougoumont, La Haye Sainte, La Belle Alliance, the crossroads. Dinner at the Bivouac de L’Empereur, situated on the battlefield. Return to hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 4. Breakfast. Wellington’s HQ museum and St Joseph’s church, Waterloo visitors’ centre, Panorama, waxworks, battle bus and Lion Mound. We also visit Napoleon’s HQ at Le Caillou and visit Plancenoit and the Prussian monument. Depart for Brussels Gare du Midi and the return train journey to London St Pancras International with Eurostar, 1st Class, on board meal with champagne.
