Following on from their acclaimed The Crimean War: A
Clash of Empires, Ian Fletcher and Natalia Ishchenko
have written two more books on the Crimean War. The first,
War in the Crimea, is published by The History
Press and is due to be published in December 2009, whilst The
Battle of the Alma: First Blood to the Allies in the
Crimea, published by Pen & Sword, is out now.

War in the Crimea: An
Illustrated History
The War in the Crimea provides
an illustrated but nevertheless detailed account of the
Crimean War. It contains many rare and some previously
unseen pictures of the war, including rare maps taken from
the official French atlas of the war. Many of the
illustrations are taken from 'Punch' and 'The Illustrated
London News', as well as the photos of Fenton and
Robertson to give the book a real contemporary feel.
Profusely illustrated in colour and black and white.

The Battle of the Alma
1854: First
Blood to the Allies in the Crimea
The Battle of the Alma was the first
major battle fought in Europe by the British Army since
Waterloo, 39 years earlier. This new book contains rare
Russian and hitherto unpublished (at least in English)
French sources, which gives the book a far more balanced
and impartial account of the battle than usual.
Illustrated in black and white with several maps.
